A gloopy and discovery kind of day…

Our children always love playing with gloop, as its texture is just so fascinating when it is mixed and moved around and so to observe its ever-changing form and gain that all-important sensory feedback is just so fascinating for everyone involved.Yet it was taken to a whole new level recently, as rather than giving the gloop to the children fully prepared in the tray, they were instead met with separate bowls of cornflour and water to investigate, so as they used their spoons, scoops and containers whilst they played and explored they naturally formed their very own ‘gloop’. This proved to be VERY messy, but it was LOTS of fun ♥️ As they played together and explored and experimented the supportive grown-ups were on hand to talk about all the changes being observed and the differing textures being felt and experienced and they scaffolded and supported communication and development of vocabulary too. This activity was fabulous on sooooo many levels because, as with pretty much all Early Years play and exploration, it ticked soooooo many boxes with its multifaceted developmental learning opportunities… And, be honest, you thought we were all ‘just playing’, didn’t you? We ♥️♥️♥️ working in the Early Years!!!! Xxxx
