Busy days and tranquil ways…

There’s no doubting that the nursery day is a busy one and our children are ‘on the go’ and usually have boundless amounts of energy, but sometimes having a little bit of time for calm is just as important as the crazy playing ways…Our movement room this week has had a focus around mindfulness and relaxation. Our children have used the yoga mats to challenge their bodies to create various poses with their friends.Relaxation and mindfulness was taken to a whole new level later in the afternoon though when our children found themselves a space and really focused upon their bodies and their sense of self. They listened to the relaxing music and watched the projector sending stars across the room, or closed their eyes (whichever they preferred) and as they did this Sian, Laura and I all slowly rolled sensory balls across their backs so they could really focus upon their body’s place within the space. The sensory feedback made some of them giggle initially, but most just loved the unusual sensation created by the spiky sensory balls and it helped them focus more upon relaxing. Not quite the full ‘baby massage’ experience that Sian learnt on her training all those years ago, but a lovely adaptation for our oldest children which helped them to relax their bodies and truly unwind.A time for peace, a time for calm, a time to develop a sense of self and take five minutes to recharge those batteries and rest. (One little one was soooo relaxed they actually started snoring!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂) xxxx
