This week in Terrific Twos….

……….Elmer is their story of the week so they have explored this story on their light table. The children were naturally driven to put their colour knowledge to the test, they sorted into matching coloured pots and they even counted each pot afterwards to figure out which had the most or the least when they compared them. Katie even asked her children questions about the shapes of the counters as they selected them too… we take advantage of every learning opportunity here at Jollies! The use of the light table and the counters naturally led to patterns being explored and lots of shape, colour and counting knowledge being developed further. However, at other times throughout the week this story (and its fabulous main character!!) has evoked discussions around friendships, inspired role-playing (as the children have made Elmer and his friends interact as they have made up their own stories and scenarios for the elephant figures), literacy skills have been extended as plots have been explored and our children have answered questions and predicted what may happen next and well… just a general ♥️of all things ‘Elmer’ has been fostered!!We love to bring stories to life for all our children in THE most colourful, wonderful, magical way… Xxxx
