Meeting new friends at the Memory Cafe

♥️

Today was our first trip up to the local Memory Cafe held up at the Two Pointers with some of our new Free-Flow group. It was very funny explaining to the children before they left that we were taking them to the pub!! We had some stories about when they have been there with their mummies and daddies and what they have eaten and where they have been sat etc!! We talked about walking super sensibly and crossing the road safely between Tracey and Nat Nat and using our great listening ears whilst we were out.

We have to say our children did us proud and they chatted confidently to their new friends there. Our children sat at tables around the back room and they played a range of games that we had taken up including pairs, snap, puzzles and a Gruffalo balancing game. The group also had Connect 4 and dominoes on the go which a few children joined in with.

We sat together and had a drink, some fruit and a biscuit and before we left we sang ‘Baa Baa’ and ‘The wheels on the bus’ and our new friends joined in too. It was so lovely to have a chat and answer their questions and begin to build friendship bonds with them all.

We are looking forward to our next visit in December where we will be dressed in our Christmas jumpers and we will sing in Christmas as we share some traditional songs and introduce a few more modern ones into a jolly sing-along! We can’t wait to continue to build those cross-generational bonds… xxxx
