Our 2026 visit to Swithens Farm for our Reception Class School Leavers treat trip was nothing short of fantastic!!!!
We were sooooo very proud of our children and their superstar behaviour and their brilliant enthusiasm and amazing listening ears.
Our guide for the day, Ady, was excellent at allowing us to access and enjoy the farm in a safe way. We were all pros at washing our hands at the numerous handwashing stations throughout the farm after we’d touched the animals. We knew we needed to wash our hands first if we ever needed to touch our faces too.
He introduced us to all the animals and we fed a huge variety of them carrots (from a flat hand so little fingers didn’t get nibbled!!) from alpacas, donkeys and goats to HUGE cows!!
We met pigs and piglets, we fed the lambs with bottles and we listened to the farmer very carefully so we knew how to do it and hold the bottles in a special way so they didn’t get air in their tummies as we didn’t want them to feel poorly.
We loved exploring some of the farm’s play areas… the soft play, trampolines and tractors were fun and the huge sand area was amazing too as we loved to dig to find buried treasure and then climbed aboard the pirate ship there.
We wolfed down our packed lunches as we’d expelled so much energy and so we were very hungry!! After a huge drink and a toilet stop we were ready to go again for more fun on the farm in the afternoon.
It was just so exciting to see all the animals and find out more about them from Ady.
We tested out the new toboggans and this was very exciting for us all, not everyone wanted a go and some of us just preferred to swing and climb and go through the tunnels there instead.
We then went to the gift shop to spend our pennies and it was so exciting to be able to choose our toy as a memento of our special day out. We loved handing Ady the money from our purses/envelopes and popping our toys in our backpacks for their safe journey home where we could show our families and tell them all about our day!
We had a tractor ride from Tony all the way down the lane before catching the 446 back to Jollies.
We were exhausted but it had been wonderful to spend the day with our key people and make some extra special Jolly memories before we embark upon our journey into big school life…. (Lovely that Emily could join us for the day too with her gorgeous baby girl!!)
