Hiding inside some geodes were some shiny gems! Our children have to use their amazing fine motor skills and concentration to get them out! Using a hammer and chisel they can tap, tap, tap each geode open!
This little one had so much fun with this activity! They enjoyed lining up the chisel with the geode and then using the hammer to pop it open! Lots of big cheesy smiles and laughs erupted when the gems popped out! They were excellent at identifying the colours and shapes of the different gems that emerged. It was soooo exciting and they loved telling Katie all about the “diamonds’ that were hidden inside as soon as they had chiselled them out! Super investigating and wonderful fine motor skills were revealed to complete this mission!!!!![]()

The other morning Jesci was talking with all the children in her room about what they would like to do and everyone agreed that they should do one big group painting, as they hadn’t done any painting for a little while!
So they gathered loads of different tools to use, such as paintbrushes and stamping tools. Then they all created lots of different pictures whilst letting their imaginations flow. There were soooo many creations; from painting racing cars to painting presents they would like for Christmas!
The group also wanted to see what colours they could create by mixing different paints together and they soon discovered that mixing blue and yellow together made green and this was especially useful as they didn’t have any green paint to use initially… so why not get mixing and create it themselves?!?
The children all really enjoyed doing this together as a big group and they created a wonderful painting with their amazing teamwork and experimentation skills! Xxxx

Tonight the flittery fluttery fairies sprinkled their tinsel and magic everywhere to bring Christmas to Jollies…
We hope it will fill our children with awe and wonder when they next walk through nursery’s door….
Watch out as Frank (the HUGE green dinosaur) is back and he’s guarding his Christmas tree. Mr Snowman is ready to wave and there are polar bears and penguins on the loose!! Plus there are lots of Christmassy books to borrow in our little Jolly Lending Library too.
Thank you AMAZING fairies for bringing the magic and we can’t wait to see our children’s reactions in the morning….

What fun it is now that the evenings are drawing in to take advantage of the darkness and go out and explore light, dark and shadows with the torches.
It fills us with excitement, awe and wonder to shine the torches and turn them on and off and see what we can see (…. or not see as the case may be?!?! ![]()

Emma and Tia got busy in our shop area outside yesterday. The Elephants children were exploring and interacting as they investigated the shop’s resources and Emma and Tia sensitively encouraged communication and conversation as they played together.
It might be turning colder, but our children’s ideas and interactions are still heating up!! ![]()
There’s no shouting “I’m a celebrity….” for us when it comes to outdoor play here at Jollies… we explore, play and learn whatever the weather whilst utilising all the different areas available to us outside…![]()
